Giving Abandoned Dogs and Cats a Second Chance
In a world where many animals are forgotten, every rescue begins with a simple act of kindness. What started as helping one hungry and frightened animal has grown into a safe haven for dozens of dogs and cats who have nowhere else to go.
Several years ago, Anya and Yancho began taking in stray, abandoned, and homeless dogs and cats they found on the streets around Korday, Kazakhstan.
What started with helping one hungry and frightened animal at a time soon grew into something much bigger. Unable to turn away from animals in need, they opened their hearts and their home to those that had been abandoned, neglected, or left to fend for themselves.
As word spread about their kindness, more people began bringing unwanted and homeless animals to their door, knowing that Anya and Yancho would do everything they could to help. Before long, their back garden became a safe haven for dogs and cats with nowhere else to go.
Today, they care for more than 80 rescued animals, providing them with food, shelter, veterinary care, and, most importantly, love. Many of these animals have suffered hardship and abandonment, and sadly, some may never find permanent homes.
Life is not easy for stray animals in Kazakhstan. Winter temperatures can fall below -30°C, while summer temperatures often rise above +35°C.
To protect the animals from these harsh conditions, Anya and Yancho have built shelters and safe spaces in their garden where the animals can stay warm, dry, and secure throughout the year.
We are not a large charity or organisation. We are simply a family who could not walk away from animals that needed help. Everything we do is funded through our own efforts and the kindness of people who care about animal welfare.
Every month, we face significant costs for food, veterinary treatment, shelter maintenance, and daily care. Despite our best efforts, we cannot do it alone. We rely on the generosity of supporters who believe that every animal deserves a chance to live a safe and happy life.
